The NHTSA test databases contains engineering data measured during various types of research, the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), biomechanics, sled and compliance tests. Information in these databases refers to the performance of vehicles, dummies and other components in impact testing. These databases are intended to support engineering analysis and not general consumer information. Please see NHTSA's information on buying a safer car for more usable safety information.
Original high-speed films for earlier tests are not available online and may be available from the National Archives.
NHTSA provides test reference guides and software to assist in preparing submission for these databases. The reference guides may also be useful in understanding the specific test conditions.
